Suppose we start out by letting a few others explain why Puerto Galera in the Philippines is so special.

Some twenty years ago the Philippines Government realized what a unique scuba diving resource Puerto Galera is and designated the entire area around our resort as protected marine reserve..

It would be reasonable to ask, "If this really is the best scuba diving in the world, how is it I never heard of the place?" Unti a few years ago Puerto Galera was next to impossible to travel to as a back-packer, let alone as a honeymoon couple. Back in the old days, it would take a full day of hard tavelling each way, so it was only the most ambitious divers that made it to Puerto Galera.

Now there is a motorway going directly from Manila the capital to Batangas where you catch a boat and after 45 mintes sailing along tropical islands you are here with us.

The first reason we think has to be the cost. The average wage for a chambermaid or waitress here is still under $1 an hour. Which will give you some idea as to the increased spending power you get in the Philippines. Indeed for the cost of a small hotel room in the West, you can wallow in luxue here at our resort. Our rooms start from just $51 a night.

The next reason we think honeymoon couples stay with us is the sea and the beaches. Firstly, you may be surprised to know that the water temperature here never drops below 25C nor rises above 29C and that underwater visibility tends to average out in the 25 -30 Meters range.

Then there are the beaches. The philippines is made up of more than 10,000 island, the vast majority of which are uninhabited. If you want to wander along a deserted beach like movie stars, this is where to do it. Within 20 minutes boat ride from our El Galleon resort there are many such beaches.
