OTHER COURSES

Often dive professionals want to continue their training and, based on their current level of certification, have a specialized need to participate in classes that fall outside of our regular Go Pro Programs. Ideally every Instructor should aim to be an IDC Staff Instructor. Here you will find information about our other courses.

1. Status Update
2 days

The primary goal of the Status Update program is to orient PADI Instructors to changes in PADI Standards allowing them to return to Active Teaching Status after a lapse in PADI Membership. One of our Course Directors will update your instructor knowledge and training by conducting a review to cover Standards changes and new materials released during the time you were not renewed.

Requirements to regain Teaching status are based on several factors. Regaining Active Teaching Status may require a Status Update or complete retraining. Please be sure to contact PADI first to verify what is required for your particular situation. We will have to in turn confirm with PADI first before we can begin.

The Status Update is also an effective refresher course for renewed PADI Instructors. In some instances also, PADI Members may be required (by the PADI Quality Management Department) to attend a Status Update for specific remediation.

Entry Requirements:

  • The Course Director must contact PADI first to confirm eligibility
  • If the Quality Management Department requires an Instructor to reorient to PADI Standards the Course Director must contact the QA Department to confirm program content.

Administration:

Complete, sign and submit the Status Update Completion Form.

2. PADI IDC Staff Instructor course 14~15 days

The IDC Staff Instructor course is designed to provide a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with the additional training necessary to staff PADI IDC's. Candidates take part in classroom sessions and development spread over 3 or 4 days immediately before the IDC followed by auditing an actual IDC spread over 11 days. While candidates participate in the entire IDC they develop evaluation and counseling skills. They also see the IDC from an entirely different perspective to IDC Candidates.

A qualified IDC Staff Instructor is certified to teach PADI Assistant Instructor courses and assist in instructor-level training. Topics covered are the same as an IDC, plus additional training in knowledge development, confined water and open water evaluations. Personal skills are also brought up to IDC demonstration quality.

Entry Requirements:

  • Be renewed and in Teaching status as a PADI Instructor for the current year.
  • Hold a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.
  • Agree to conduct all levels of diver training consistent with the standards and philosophy outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual.
  • Agree to use the PADI System and components entirely.

Certification:
PADI IDC Staff Instructor Application Fee - A$94 NOT included

# of Open Water Dives: 5
# of Confined Water Pool Dives: 8

3. IDC Audit 11 days

Some PADI Instructors will find that they have a need or desire to audit a complete PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC.)

This may be required by PADI in order to return to Active Teaching Status after a lapse in PADI Membership. Requirements to regain Active Teaching Status are based on several factors. Please be sure to contact PADI first to verify what is required for your particular situation. We will have to in turn contact PADI for verification.

Some IDC Staff Instructors will choose to audit an IDC in order to gain valuable and required experience in the PADI Instructor Development process. This may be to meet PADI Master Instructor prerequisites or Course Director Training Course prerequisites. Either way you can be assured of being an active part of the team and gain valuable insight in to the professional running of an Instructor development Course. We offer IDC Staff Instructors the opportunity to improve their staffing skills along side our team. Being part of such a comprehensive program will improve your chance of success in the dive industry. Our IDC Staff Instructors are fully involved in all aspects of our programs including morning staff briefing sessions, debriefings and counseling during the program.

Entry Requirements:
Any PADI Instructor may attend
