Cost.

I had a surprise recently when I found that El Galleon appeared on Google's first page for the phrase 'cheap honeymoon Philippines' We are a five Star resort so it came as something of a surprise to see us listed as 'cheap' and then I realized Google was not so much thinking of El Galleon as being cheap, Google was thinking of the Philippines being a cheap venue and that is very true.

The average wage for an unskilled worker here is still under $1 US an hour. A good quality cotton T shirt here still costs under $2 US. We mention this because it may give you an idea as to how far your budget will stretch here. The El Galleon resort offers high quality rooms at our beach resort starting at just $51 a night in 2010

Climate.

The Philippines is sub tropical and we have just two seasons, the Wet Season and the Dry Season. The Philippines is made up of more than 10,000 islands and in the Wet Season you can look out over the Philippines Sea at night and see lightning dancing round the nearby islands. The vast majority of all rainfall here happens at night, which is why couples honeymoon here all year round.

Safety.

The Philippines is predominantly a very Christian nation. Indeed there are more Roman Catholics here in the Philippines than in Italy. You can drink and dance here to your heart's content. Christian fundamentalists never blow places up.

The sea and beaches.

Think of the Hollywood version of a tropical island and you are probably thinking of a fairly typical Philippine island. Here, the vast majority of islands are uninhabited with lush vegetation running right down to the beach. Take a boat ride from our resort for half an hour and you will find many such islands and beaches.

The water here is very special and a very special current, the Verde Island Drift starts in the mid Pacific and brings some of the purest water anywhere to us. This water is very heavily oxygenated and laden with nutrients. The result is water where the temperature is between 25C and 29C all year round. The purity is such that the underwater visibility is normally in the range of 25 - 30 meters.

Scuba Diving.

As you have already learned the water surrounding our resort are very special. Indeed we actually have a greater number of fish species on our doorstep than can be found in the entire red sea and a larger number of coral varieties than in the Great Barrier Reef. Unsurprisingly therefore the Philippines Government has made the entire area round our resort into a Protected Marine Reserve.

Scuba-diving is far and away the most popular sport enjoyed by people at our resort. Asia Divers is an integral part of our honeymoon resort. Here we teach to every level of diving from beginners right up to PADI Instructor. Indeed, this is one of only two diving schools in the entire Philippines qualified to train to that level.

Here you can train and or dive with Air, Nitrox, Trimix or even hire a re-breather. Within a very few minutes boat ride from our beach front you can experience a very wide variety of dive types from small wrecks to cave diving, explore the Canyons or just lay back and enjoy a drift dive.

Snorkeling.

You do not have to dive to experience the beauty of the marine life and corals here. We have an area called the Coral Gardens where the water depth tends to be one to one and a half meters and you can see so many fish and beautiful corals.
